Dutch cyclist Kimmann wins men's BMX racing

TOKYO, July 30 -- Niek Kimmann won the Netherlands' first men's cycling BMX racing gold at the Ariake Urban Sports Park here on Friday.

The Dutch, who finished seventh at Rio 2016, crossed the line first in 39.053 seconds, edging British rider Kye Whyte by 0.114 seconds, Xinhua said.

Rio bronze medalist Carlos Alberto Ramirez Yepes of Colombia had another third-place finish in 40.572 seconds.

Defending champion Connor Fields of the United States, who could become the third rider to win two Olympic golds crashed out in an early stage.
