Pavlyuchenkova/Rublev triumph in all-ROC final for Olympic tennis mixed doubles gold

TOKYO, Aug 1 -- Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova/Andrey Rublev representing the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) beat compatriots Elena Vesnina/Aslan Karatsev in a nerve-wracking final to claim the tennis mixed doubles gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday. 

 Although their opponents saved three match points, Pavlyuchenkova and Rublev managed to go through with a 6-3, 6-7 (5), 13-11 victory over Vesnina and Karatsev in one hour and 53 minutes. 

 Australian pair of Ashleigh Barty and John Peers enjoyed a walkover from Nina Stojanovic and Novak Djokovic from Serbia to pocket a bronze medal, according to Xinhua News Agency.
